Course Description
Academic Skills Series is a set of eight practical sessions on the skills that make study easier and more fruitful. Each one takes a single skill, from planning your week and reading well to revising for exams and writing an essay, and gives you simple methods you can use straight away, whether you are studying at Madinah College or on your own.
The sessions run live every other Wednesday, 7–8pm UK time, from October 2026 to February 2027. Each recording is added here after the session.
The first session is taught by Shaykh Abdulwahid Stephenson.
Students will learn:
• How to build a realistic weekly study plan around work, family and worship
• How to read with purpose: preview, question and summarise any text
• Simple note-taking methods that make revision faster
• Retention techniques such as spaced repetition and active recall
• How to stay consistent and motivated when studying on your own
• A clear revision plan and a calm exam-day strategy
• How to plan, structure and write a clear, well-argued essay
• How to prepare and deliver a confident, well-structured presentation
A practical series for any student who wants to study with more focus, less stress and better results.

AbdulWahid Stephenson has over 15 years teaching experience and has studied Islamic Jurisprudence at the prestigious Islamic University of Madinah, Saudi Arabia. He is the founder of Madinah College and Insight into Islam. He is also a Khateeb and has delivered talks at several universities and Islamic centres.
