Tajweed for Beginners is a fundamental course for every Muslim aiming to perfect their recitation of the Qur’an, the perfect Book and direct speech of Allah. Understanding the rules of Tajweed and the proper pronunciation of the Qur’an is essential for every believer to ensure that the recitation is done correctly and in accordance with the traditions of the Prophet ﷺ.

This course covers the foundational principles of Tajweed, including rules related to Noon Saakin and Tanween, Meem Saakin and the articulation points of letters, among others. These core aspects are crucial for reciting the Qur’an accurately and beautifully.

You recite the Quran but know your pronunciation needs work. Maybe you learned to read Arabic quickly without focusing on proper articulation. This course gives you the Tajweed foundation you missed.

Your Instructor

Shaykh Sharif Zain Ali

Shaykh Sharif memorised the entire Qur’an at age 15. He holds a BA in Shari’ah from Mogadishu University and earned his Ijazah in Hafs ‘an ‘Asim from Sheikh Shoieb in the UK.

In 2018, he completed his Ijazah in the Ten Minor Qira’at, mastering multiple authentic recitation styles. He’s led Tarawih prayers for over 15 years in South London and currently serves as Imam at Ibn Taymiyyah Masjid (Brixton) and head of the Qur’an Department at Madinah College.

How is Your Teaching Style Different From Other Tajweed Courses?

We focus on building muscle memory through repetition rather than overwhelming you with theory first. You learn by doing, not by memorising complex charts and rules.

Most Tajweed courses dump all the rules on you at once. Students get lost in technical terms like “Ghunnah” and “Ikhfa” before they can even pronounce basic letters correctly. That’s backwards.

We start with your mouth. You’ll spend time getting comfortable with each sound. No cramming 20 rules into one session.
