This course covers Bayquniyyah, a short but profound poem written by Imam Bayquniyyah on the science of Usul al-Hadithโ€”the principles governing the study and classification of Prophetic traditions (Hadith). In this course, students will explore the essential concepts of Hadith criticism, including the identification of authentic and fabricated narrations, as well as understanding the factors that influence the soundness or weakness of a Hadith.

What Students Will Learn

โ€ข The foundational principles of Usul al-Hadith (Science of Hadith) and its significance in preserving the Prophetic tradition.

โ€ข How to classify Prophetic narrations based on their authenticity and reliability.

โ€ข The key concepts of Isnad (chain of narrators) and Matn (content of the Hadith).

โ€ข The criteria used by scholars to evaluate the soundness and weakness of narrations.

โ€ข The types of Hadith (e.g., Sahih, Hasan, Daโ€™if, and Mawduโ€™) and how each type is assessed.

โ€ข An introduction to the important scholars of Hadith and their contributions to the science.

โ€ข Practical examples and case studies of Hadith classification.

Instructor:

Ustadh Saโ€™eed Hassan is a Graduate of the Imam Saud University from the Faculty of Shariah and has a Masters in Comparative Fiqh. He has over 10 years experience teaching Islamic sciences with a focus on fiqh and usul al-fiqh. He has taught primary Islamic texts in Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Qawaโ€™dul Fiqhiya, Aqeedah, Mustalah Hadith and others. He has also authored booklets on prostration for forgetfulness and Knowledge of inheritance.
